The Voice of the People Voice of the People USA Movement: Fighting Illegal Immigration across the USA
Attention!!!

We at Voice of the People have nothing, I repeat, nothing to do with any hate, white power, nationalist, or Aryan group. It has been brought to our attention that some of these groups have been copying and pasting text from this web site and posting it on their web site! We have absolutely nothing to do with that. It is not what we are about and we do not endorse any stealing of our text and writings for any of these groups use  or self gain. This has nothing to do with race this is simply standing up for the laws of our U.S. citizens. This is legality vs illegality.

Thank you,

Join us regardless of where you stand on the issue of illegal immigration, this group is more than just an anti illegal immigration group, we are a pro America group that refuses to tolerate any oppression that is forced down our throats! AN UNFORTUNATE TREND is taking shape in Luzerne County, and it smacks in the face of the democratic process. As caretakers of an institution rooted in the First Amendment, it makes us want to scream.
First, Wilkes-Barre City Council was considering levying a fee for people staging public protests. Thankfully, that measure has been put on hold and the American Civil Liberties Union is weighing in.
Now to the south in Dorrance Township, the board of supervisors enacted a resolution that severely limits free speech at township meetings. Specifically, the regulation called “Resolution No. 1 of 2008” restricts public participation to township citizens and puts a 10-minute cap on township residents’ right to speak out. Read More.

This story makes my head hurt. When did it become a good idea to parole people who assaulted and planned to rob another person? Also, since when did it become a good idea to make the requirements to stay out of jail, be an English test and a job? Shouldn't they be able to speak and understand English already? Even though in the article Dr. Agapito Lopez, said that, "This is a country in which English is not the official language. We cannot force people to learn the language.” What did I miss? When did English stop being the official language of our country?
But don't worry, this means that If you go out and assault, pull a gun on, and rob someone, you can get off as long as you don't know the language of this country. If you are fluent in English and do any of those things I guess your screwed. This is absolutely ridiculous! The decision should be looked at, bring them back and have them serve the time that is fitting the crime. No matter what the cost of the translator.
I don't understand. But, I am not a part of the legal system, maybe  I shouldn't understand. All I know is that if a person or persons come in and plead guilty to a crime. That is a open and shut case. The fact that they can not speak the language is regardless. If they have come to this country legally, serve your time and send them back. If they are here illegally, then there are a whole new set of charges to go with the initial ones. You don't parole them. You don't send them to learn the language and get jobs to better assimilate into the community. They didn't care before, why do they get a free pass?

Alan Keyes to announce break with GOP in Hazleton, PA
Event to be live-streamed Tuesday, Apr. 15

Former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes has chosen April 15 to make a major announcement of his intentions, following indications he has broken with the GOP.

A life-long Republican who has increasingly cited the party’s failure to match conservative rhetoric with actual performance in the political arena, Keyes said he will reveal his reasons for departing the GOP at a press conference scheduled for 8:30 pm ET, at the Best Western Genetti Inn in Hazleton, PA.

The event will be video-streamed live at Keyes’ website, www.AlanKeyes.com.

Keyes added that he is looking to the Constitution Party as a possible home for his future efforts in politics, including a potential run for president in the 2008 general election.

“No other ‘third party’ offers the kind of ballot access already available through the Constitution Party,” said Keyes.  “They’ve been around since 1992, and have built a significant grassroots presence—mainly among patriotic, Constitution-minded citizens—with a registered membership of over 350,000.  Conservatives have a home in the CP that they can find nowhere else, given the decline in the Republican Party’s credibility as a voice and vehicle for conservatism.”

Regarding his potential third-party candidacy for president in the fall, Keyes said, “I believe people deserve a choice.  They certainly deserve a conservative choice—something neither John McCain, Hillary Clinton, nor Barack Obama can offer voters.  All they can offer is empty promises based on liberal track records.”

Symbolic of Keyes’ break with the Republican Party is a caricature of the GOP logo—upside down—on the front page of his website.

The Constitution Party will hold its nominating convention April 23-26 in Kansas City.

According to Dan Smeriglio, a Keyes supporter who is helping to arrange the event, the former Reagan administration diplomat chose to make his announcement in Hazleton because of the town’s strong stance on illegal immigration.

“I understand a good portion of his speech next week will center on illegal immigration,” Smeriglio said.  Smeriglio and a group he represents, Voice of the People USA, have been vocal in opposing illegal immigration since Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta introduced the Illegal Immigration Relief Act in 2006—thrusting Hazleton into national prominence in the movement to stem illegal immigration.

Keyes—who has a Ph.D. in government from Harvard and wrote his dissertation on constitutional theory—served as Reagan’s Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations, as well as Ambassador to the United Nations Economic and Social Council, where he represented U.S. interests in the UN General Assembly.

For any questions, please contact Dan Smeriglio, 570 578 1370, or Andrew Woodring 570 578 3172.

Alan Keyes announced his intention to run for president at a Hazle Township lodge Tuesday night in front of a crowd of about 60 supporters. He also said he is dropping out of the Republican Party.
The conservative activist said he is considering seeking the nomination of the Constitution Party, though he’d run regardless of his party affiliation.Read More...

We would like to thank Dr.Keyes, Steve, and all that helped make last night possible. About 75 to 95 supporters came last night to see Keyes speak. He gave heart felt and powerful speech. No one who came last night was disappointed.

The president of Voice of the People USA said the group is likely to take legal action against the City of Wilkes-Barre over demands the city made concerning a rally Sunday.
The American Civil Liberties Union has agreed to take up the group’s case. “It’s in the exploratory stages, but I know where I’m gonna go with it,” the group’s founder and President Dan Smeriglio said Thursday night. “All signs are pointing to going ahead with this. Not doing so would be foolish.” Read More...

No English? No Problem.

Two area congressmen and their challengers in November’s election agree that language requirements in applying for a driver’s license are too lax.
“That’s outrageous,” U.S. Rep. Tim Holden, D-17, said Thursday when discussing policies that allow the use of an interpreter during both the written and skills portions of a driver’s license test.
Holden and his Republican opponent in the November election, Toni Gilhooley, both said Thursday that English should be recognized as the “official” language of the United States, which would, among other things, require everyone to speak and read English when applying for a license. Read More...
